For all mistakes mark a small "X" through the question number..
Mark the number of total errors for the days work on the front page.
Have the students correct the mistakes.
After corrections, place a circle around the "X". (indicating the mistake has been corrected)
If all mistakes are corrected, then a score of 100% is written on the front page.
How to mark the Reading Worksheets::
1. It is vital to pay close attention when marking the Reading worksheets. Errors are easily missed.
2. In the Reading Program errors are classified into two categories:
An arrow "--->" next to the question indicates an error in capitalization, punctuation or spelling. An X " X " next to the question indicates an error in reading comprehension (answer is wrong).
3. Mark the total number of errors on the front page (example:: 3---> and 2X). 4. Have students correct mistakes. 5. After corrections, circle the "--->" and "X" on each question that is now correct. 6. If all mistakes are corrected then mark a score of 100% on the front page.
BENEFITS TO HOME MARKING::
On a personal level, by marking your child's work you will gain a more thorough understanding of Kumon. You will be able to see your child's progress, and you will know when praise is deserved, or extra encouragement is needed. Home marking makes you an active participant in your child's education. Home marking means that your child will be able to correct his/her mistakes immediately (subsequently learning faster), rather than having to wait until the next class visit to do so. Instead of continuing to make the same errors for several days, students can quickly realize their mistakes and get back on the right track. With home marking your child will learn and progress more easily and quickly.
